Fatal Shooting at Bissonnet Street: Shooter Claims Self-Defense

A fatal shooting occurred at 12023 Bissonnet Street in Southwest Houston around 4:25 a.m. on May 10, leading to the involvement of Harris County authorities.

The deceased, identified as a 31-year-old male, awaits confirmation of identity from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. The shooter, a 67-year-old male, was not not harmed. The shooting took place at an apartment complex.

Upon responding to a shooting call, HPD patrol officers discovered the victim with a gunshot wound. Despite paramedics’ efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The shooter recounted to investigators that the victim had threatened him with a knife, accusing him of theft. Fearing for his safety, he resorted to using his firearm in self-defense. After the altercation, the shooter attempted to provide aid to the victim, promptly called emergency services, and cooperated with law enforcement upon their arrival.

Following consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, it was decided that the case would be presented to a Harris County grand jury for further examination.
