Fatal Pedestrian Crash Under Investigation on South Freeway Service Road

Houston Police are currently investigating a fatal crash that occurred on the South Freeway (South Highway 288) service road at approximately 1:20 a.m. last Friday, December 15.

The victim, a 45-year-old woman, was walking northbound on the service road near the address 13400 when she was struck by a white Dodge Charger traveling in the same direction. Emergency services were dispatched, and Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the injured woman to Ben Taub General Hospital.

Despite medical efforts, the victim’s condition worsened, and she was pronounced deceased on Monday, December 18. The identity of the deceased is awaiting verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The driver of the Charger, a 26-year-old female, remained at the scene of the incident and cooperated with authorities. Following an assessment, law enforcement determined that she was not impaired. The driver was questioned and subsequently released.

The Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division, led by Sergeant D. Rose and Officer D. Thompson, is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. The investigation remains ongoing.
