Fatal Crash on Gulf Freeway: Houston Police Investigate DWI Charge Following

The Houston Police Department is currently investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 6300 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) around 5:35 a.m. on Sunday, December 24.

The deceased victim has been identified as 67-year-old Maria Ambriz Reyes.

Ms. Ambriz Reyes was driving a gray Mitsubishi Endeavor southbound at the mentioned location when she lost control of her vehicle, causing it to spin on the freeway. A gold Chrysler 300 collided with the Mitsubishi during its rotation, and a blue Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck also struck the Mitsubishi.

Houston Fire Department rushed Ambriz Reyes to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead by doctors.

Paramedics transported the Chrysler’s driver, Krystal Ann Sanchez, to a local hospital, where it was determined that she was impaired. Sanchez remains hospitalized.

Following consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, she has been charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #5.

The driver of the Dodge Ram did not sustain any injuries. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
