Fatal Collision Investigated: Red Light Runner Claims Life at Northwest Houston Intersection

Houston police are currently investigating an accident that occurred at 1900 Blalock Road in northwest Houston around 4:25 p.m. on Thursday, March 14.

According to reports, a fatal collision took place when a red Toyota Corolla, driven by a 57-year-old woman, was traveling eastbound on Campbell Road. The vehicle had a green light as it proceeded through the intersection of Blalock Road. However, at the same time, a silver Hyundai Santa Fe traveling southbound on Blalock Road ran the red light and collided with the Toyota in the intersection.

The female driver of the Toyota was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Her identity is currently awaiting verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 35-year-old male, was questioned by authorities. Both he and a passenger from the Toyota were taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that are reported to be non-life-threatening.

No charges have been filed at this time, pending further investigation.
