Fatal Collision in Houston: Pickup Truck Strikes Disabled Vehicle, Claims Life of Man Outside
Houston police are investigating an incident that occurred early Saturday morning on the North Freeway. The crash, which took place around 2:55 a.m. at 12500 North Freeway, resulted in the death of 33-year-old Joshua Ivie.
According to authorities, Ivie had exited a silver Kia Soul, which was disabled from a prior crash, and was on the right-hand lane of the exit ramp. At that moment, a white Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 27-year-old male, was traveling southbound on the freeway. Upon exiting, the driver of the Silverado encountered the disabled Kia and collided with it. The impact caused the Kia to strike Ivie, resulting in fatal injuries.
Emergency responders from the Houston Fire Department arrived at the scene and pronounced Ivie deceased. The driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene following the collision.
Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver of the Chevrolet was impaired. However, after consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, the driver was released pending further investigation.
Houston police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
