Elderly Man Killed in Suspected Hit-and-Run in Downtown El Paso

A tragic incident occurred in downtown El Paso on Tuesday, October 17, at 1:15 P.M., as an elderly man was believed to have been fatally injured in a hit-and-run accident. The victim has been identified as 80-year-old Luis Valles.

El Paso Police Officers, who were on duty in the downtown area, received a report from a concerned passerby about an unconscious man at the intersection of Kansas and 3rd Ave. Responding swiftly, the officers arrived at the scene to find Mr. Valles lying near the intersection. With the assistance of fire medical crews, they administered immediate first aid to the injured individual. Following initial treatment, Valles was rushed to University Medical Center, where, tragically, he was pronounced dead.

In response to this incident, the Special Traffic Investigations Unit has been called in to aid in the ongoing investigation. Evidence discovered at the scene strongly indicates that Mr. Valles was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident.

Law enforcement authorities are now appealing to the local community for any information related to this tragic event.
