El Paso Woman Arrested for Injury to a Child by Omission

On May 13th, 2023, officers from the El Paso Police Department responded to a distress call at 9700 Gateway North, known as Camp Cohen Pool, regarding a possible drowning incident. Upon their arrival at the scene, officers discovered an unresponsive 3-year-old child identified as Anthony Malave. Immediate action was taken by the authorities, and the child was promptly transported to a local hospital for medical attention.

In response to the situation, the El Paso Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons and Crimes Against Children divisions initiated a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident. Through their diligent efforts, investigators were able to establish a detailed account of the events leading to the tragic outcome. It was determined that the child’s unfortunate death resulted from neglectful and careless actions, as well as a failure to properly care for the child.

As a result of the investigation, a warrant was obtained for 35-year-old Jessica Weaver of El Paso in connection with this heartbreaking incident. On August 29th, 2023, Weaver was taken into custody by the United States Marshals in Indiana. She is currently awaiting extradition back to El Paso to face charges of Injury to a Child by Omission. Judge Moody has set her bond at $100,000 pending further legal proceedings.
