El Paso Teen Arrested on Capital Murder Charge for Death of 14-year-old Girl and a Young Man

A warrant for the arrest of 18-year-old Angel Avila on charges of Capital Murder was issued on November 16th, 2023. Judge Aun set a bond of $2,000,000 for Avila, who was subsequently apprehended by the US Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force. Avila is now in custody at the El Paso County Detention Facility.

The El Paso Police Department has identified 14-year-old Julia Worthington and 19-year-old Eliel Omar Bultron Hernandez as victims of the September 17th, 2023 shooting. Unfortunately, Julia Worthington, who had been hospitalized since the incident, succumbed to her injuries and passed away recently.

The investigation has uncovered that the property where the incident occurred was rented through VRBO.

September 17th, 2023 Shooting Incident

The tragedy unfolded on September 17th, 2023, at approximately 1:01 a.m., when officers from the El Paso Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at the 12300 block of Tierra Inca. Upon arrival, officers discovered multiple individuals with gunshot wounds. Among the victims was 19-year-old Eliel Omar Bultron Hernandez, who succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a local hospital.

Preliminary findings indicated that the residence where the incident took place was rented as an Airbnb by high school students for a Montwood High School homecoming after-party. The El Paso Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons Detectives arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation.
