El Paso Man Sentenced to Five Years for Attempted Transfer of Obscene Material to a 13-year-old Child

Jacob Isaiah Spencer, 25, was sentenced to five years in federal prison for attempting to transfer obscene material to a minor, according to court documents. The sentencing comes after Spencer engaged in sexually explicit conversations on social media with an individual he believed to be a 13-year-old child between November 6, 2022, and November 17, 2022.

During this period, Spencer sent lascivious photos of male genitalia and arranged to meet the minor for sexual activity at his home. Acting swiftly, agents from the FBI El Paso’s Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force arrested Spencer on November 17, 2022, as he awaited the minor’s arrival.

On August 30, 2023, Spencer pleaded guilty to one count of attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor. He has been in federal custody since his arrest.

U.S. Attorney Jaime Esparza emphasized the commitment to safeguarding children and the community, stating, “Protecting our children and our community is a top priority for our office. We will continue to prosecute those who seek to harm our minors for their own sexual gratification.”

John Morales, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI El Paso Field Office, highlighted the defendant’s attempt to exploit the minor and reassured parents, saying, “Parents can rest easy with this man in federal prison, but there are so many more predators like him. The FBI El Paso’s Child Exploitation & Human Trafficking Task Force remains committed to the fight against exploitation of our children.”

The FBI conducted the investigation into this case.
