El Paso Father Runs Over 8-Month-Old Child Backing Out of Home Driveway

In a devastating incident, the El Paso Special Traffic Investigations unit responded to a fatal pedestrian crash in the 4000 block of Lincoln yesterday afternoon, December 26, 2023, at 2:38 pm. The victim, an 8-month-old child, lost his life in the unfortunate accident involving his father, 20-year-old Bryan Eduardo Acosta-Rodriguez.

Preliminary findings from the investigation revealed that Acosta-Rodriguez had initially left his residence driving a 1998 GMC Cargo Van but returned shortly after realizing he had forgotten an item. Upon his return, his spouse emerged from the residence to provide him with the forgotten item. Subsequently, the spouse returned inside, and it was during this time that the couple’s 8-month-old child exited the residence unnoticed.

Tragically, as Acosta-Rodriguez drove away, he inadvertently ran over the child. Acosta-Rodriguez promptly contacted 911 and administered aid until medical help arrived. The injured child was transported to a local hospital, but despite the efforts made, the child was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
