Ector County Woman Sentenced to Life for DWI, 25 Years for Tampering with Evidence
Defendant: Ramona Delgadillo

ECTOR COUNTY, TX – An Ector County jury has found Ramona Delgadillo guilty of multiple charges stemming from a March 2023 traffic stop.

Delgadillo was sentenced to life in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for her third or more DWI offense, a third-degree felony enhanced due to prior convictions. She also received a 25-year sentence for tampering with physical evidence, another third-degree felony.

The case began on March 16, 2023, when officers initiated a traffic stop after observing Delgadillo’s vehicle fail to signal properly. During the stop, officers noticed suspicious movements inside the vehicle and observed that Delgadillo appeared extremely intoxicated. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests confirmed her impairment.

A search of the vehicle revealed open containers of alcohol and a glass pipe with cocaine residue. At the Ector County Law Enforcement Center, a further search uncovered a methamphetamine pipe partially concealed on Delgadillo’s person. She attempted to destroy the pipe by throwing it on the floor, shattering it.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Addison Kirk and Trial Chief Marc Chastain, with investigation by Katelyn Paredes and support from paralegal Arlet Torres. Judge Ruiz-Crutcher of the 244th District Court presided over the trial.
