The Crimes

The convictions are linked to multiple incidents involving three separate victims:

  • May 12, 2022: The mother of a 13-year-old victim reported a sexual assault after finding her daughter with Lujan, who was 18 at the time, and reviewing their social media communications. DNA evidence matched Lujan, who was 29 years old at the time of the investigation.
  • July 1, 2022: An 11-year-old victim reported meeting an individual on social media whom she believed was 14–16 years old. The individual, who admitted to being 26, gave her drugs and forced her into sexual acts. DNA found on the victim’s clothing was matched to Lujan, then 29 years old.
  • December 15, 2022: The mother of a third victim contacted law enforcement after seeing Lujan’s mugshot. The victim reported that approximately two years earlier, when she was 15 and believed Lujan to be 17, he engaged in sexual acts with her in his vehicle. She became aware of his real age (28 at the time of the incident) only after seeing him on the news.

The case was presided over by Judge Justin Low of the 161st Judicial District Court. The trial team included Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Bassett and Senior Assistant District Attorney Kelly Whitworth.
