Double Tragedy in Austin: Husband and Wife Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide
On June 19, 2024, tragedy struck a quiet neighborhood in Austin when police responded to a distress call shortly after 1 a.m. Upon arrival at the residence on Nature Unknown call, officers discovered a grim scene. Inside the home, they found Suzanne Bailey, a 42-year-old White female, with a gunshot wound to her head. Austin-Travis County EMS rushed her to Dell Seton Medical Center, where she was later pronounced deceased at 9:10 a.m.
Meanwhile, in the backyard, officers located Joshua Lockwood, 45, also with a gunshot wound to the head. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:28 a.m. The preliminary investigation by Homicide Detectives revealed that Mr. Lockwood had fatally shot his wife before taking his own life.
The Austin Police Department, along with Crime Scene Specialists, continued to process the scene and interview witnesses to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy. The community and neighbors were left in shock by the devastating loss of two lives in what appears to be a domestic incident.
