On February 4, 2025, District 4 patrol responded to a report of a possible vehicle crash at 5640 Timber Place Creek Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man in his forties who had been shot multiple times. The victim was transported to a local medical center in stable but critical condition.
Investigators from the Violent Crimes Unit (VCU) soon determined the shooting occurred at 5406 SH 6, a location known as “My Bar.” According to witnesses, the victim had arrived at the bar and caused a disturbance, leading employees to escort him out of the establishment. After leaving, an off-duty employee, later identified as McKenzie Taylor Perry, followed the victim outside, where a physical altercation ensued. During the altercation, Perry shot the victim three to four times.
Perry was detained and interviewed, claiming he acted in self-defense. No charges have been filed, and the case will be presented to a grand jury for further review.
