Deputy Rescues Puppy Found Crying Inside Locked Suitcase In East Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A Harris County deputy rescued a puppy Monday after responding to a report of a suspicious package and discovering the animal locked inside a suitcase.

On January 26, District 3 Deputy K. Moore with the Harris County Constable Precinct 3 was dispatched to investigate a suspicious item in East Harris County. Upon arrival, the deputy located a closed and locked suitcase.

As he approached the suitcase, Deputy Moore heard crying coming from inside. He opened the suitcase and found a puppy trapped within. The deputy immediately removed the animal and provided care until additional assistance arrived.

The puppy was turned over to the SPCA, which has taken custody to provide medical care and ensure the animal’s safety.

“No pet should ever suffer this way. If you see or suspect a pet left in dangerous or cruel conditions, please speak up—it can truly save a life,” said the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in a statement.
