Deadly Officer-Involved Shooting in Baytown Leaves Two Adults Dead, Two Children Safe

Baytown police are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting that unfolded early Friday morning, December 19th, during a response to a reported family disturbance at an apartment complex on Garth Road.

According to the Baytown Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Garth Road at approximately 4:00 a.m. Upon arrival, officers encountered an adult male armed with a knife. Police said the man failed to comply with repeated verbal commands and advanced toward officers.

At that point, officers discharged their firearms, striking the man and stopping what police described as an immediate threat. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene. No officers were injured during the encounter.

During a follow-up search of the apartment, officers discovered an adult female who was also deceased. Authorities later confirmed she was the mother of the suspect’s children. Two children were located inside the apartment and were safely removed by officers. Police said the children were provided assistance at the scene.

The Baytown Police Department Homicide Unit responded and is leading the investigation. The scene remained active for several hours as investigators worked to document evidence and determine the sequence of events that led up to the shooting and the deaths inside the apartment.

Police have not released the identities of those involved, and no additional details have been provided about the circumstances surrounding the reported family disturbance. Officials stated that more information will be released as it becomes available.
