Cypress Man Arrested After Alleged Bomb Threat and Mass Shooting Claim

Cypress, TX — A 20-year-old man was arrested Monday after deputies responded to a bomb threat at a residence in Cypress where the caller allegedly threatened to detonate explosive devices and carry out a mass shooting.

Deputies with Harris County Constable Mark Herman’s Office responded on March 9, 2026, to the 21900 block of Bronze Leaf Drive in Cypress after receiving the threat.

When deputies arrived, they detained Jeremiah Chavez at the scene. During a search of the residence, investigators located several rounds of ammunition, an AR-style rifle, and materials believed to be components used to make explosives.

Chavez was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail on a charge of Unlawful Possession of Components of Explosives.

Authorities said Chavez’s bond and court information had not yet been set as of the time of the announcement.

The investigation remains ongoing.
