Cyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run on Gulf Freeway Service Road; Police Looking for Jeep Wrangler

Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred at 15901 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) service road around 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 31. The deceased male’s identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to the Houston Police Department’s Vehicular Crimes Division, Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer D. Thompson reported that the male was riding a bicycle northbound on the service road when he was struck by a vehicle also traveling northbound. The vehicle did not stop and fled the scene in an unknown direction. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the man dead at the scene.

A witness indicated that the suspect vehicle might be a Jeep Wrangler.
