Crosby Man Caught with 2 Pounds of Meth in Van in Chambers County

On May 28, 2025, around 11:00 PM, Chambers County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigative Unit (SIU) deputies were conducting proactive criminal patrols along the I-10 business corridor when they observed a 2001 Chevrolet van leaving a group of abandoned houses near the westbound service road of I-10 and the Grand Parkway.

Deputies observed the van commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop in the 10000 block of the I-10 service road. The driver was identified as Ryan Zurovec of Crosby, Texas. During the initial investigation, deputies suspected additional criminal activity, but Zurovec denied consent to search the vehicle.

K9 Sigma and his handler were called to the scene. Sigma conducted a free-air sniff and alerted to the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search revealed approximately 920 grams—two pounds—of methamphetamine hidden inside the vehicle.

Zurovec was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG1 >400g, a first-degree felony. He was transported and booked into the Chambers County Jail.
