Cold Case Solved: Two Arrested in 2016 North Houston Fatal Shooting
Henry Nathan Ibanez and Eric Rios

HOUSTON, TX – Houston police have arrested two men in connection with the fatal shooting of Emanuel Carrillo, 34, which occurred on May 21, 2016, at approximately 6:30 a.m. in the driveway of 1807 McDaniel Street in North Houston.

The suspects, Henry Nathan Ibanez, 29, and Eric Rios, 30, are both charged with murder in the 176th Criminal District Court.

According to HPD Homicide Division Sergeants R. Watson and M. Burrow, officers responding to the shooting found Carrillo suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics. A second male victim was also struck and transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators determined that a prior argument between a resident of the home and her ex-boyfriend escalated, leading to the shooting. Following the investigation, both Ibanez and Rios were identified as suspects. Ibanez was arrested on November 5 by the Southeast Patrol Division Crime Suppression Team and charged for his role in Carrillo’s death. Rios was charged on November 14, 2025, and arrested on November 18.

HPD continues to emphasize its commitment to solving cold cases and holding those responsible for violent crimes accountable.
