Cedar Park Officer-Involved Shooting Leaves Suspect Dead, Victim Stable After Stabbing

CEDAR PARK, TX – On Sunday, November 2, 2025, Cedar Park Police responded to a disturbance and stabbing at Top Spin Karaoke & Wing Bar on South Lakeline Boulevard. Officers found 40-year-old Justin Dearing of Leander with multiple stab wounds and immediately began life-saving measures. Dearing was transported to a local hospital and remains in stable condition.
The suspect, later identified as 24-year-old Jacob Allen of Cedar Park, fled the scene on a motorcycle. Officers pursued him briefly until Allen stopped in traffic and produced a handgun, prompting officers to discharge their weapons. Allen was pronounced dead at the scene despite officers’ immediate attempts to save him.
Allen had an extensive criminal history, including weapons offenses, obstruction, and assault, and was known to law enforcement for prior threats against officers.
The officers involved—K9 Officer Erik Detlefsen, a 22-year veteran, and Sergeant Ryan Zander, a 9-year veteran—have been placed on administrative leave per department policy. The Texas Rangers, in coordination with the Cedar Park Police Department Major Crimes Unit, are conducting a full investigation into the officer-involved shooting.
