Cedar Park Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Sexual Assault of 4-Year-Old Nephew
Defendant: Mason Hidalgo

CEDAR PARK, TX — A 32-year-old man was sentenced to 20 years in prison on March 30, 2026, following a 15-month investigation into the aggravated sexual assault of a young child. Mason Hidalgo, the victim’s uncle, pleaded guilty to the first-degree felony charge in a Williamson County courtroom last Friday.

The case began on December 27, 2024, when Cedar Park Police officers responded to a report of an assault at a local residence. During the initial response, authorities identified Hidalgo as the suspect and noted his familial relationship to the victim, who was only 4 years old at the time.

Investigation and DNA Evidence

Hidalgo was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Cedar Park Police Department for questioning. Following an interview with detectives, he was booked into the Williamson County Jail.

A critical component of the prosecution’s case involved forensic evidence. Investigators collected DNA samples that were subsequently analyzed by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) crime laboratory. The lab results confirmed the presence of Hidalgo’s DNA on the child victim, providing biological corroboration of the allegations.

Sentencing and Final Disposition

Under Texas law, Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child is a first-degree felony, which carries a maximum potential sentence of life in prison. Following his guilty plea and the review of the forensic evidence, the court handed down the 20-year prison sentence.

Hidalgo has remained in custody since his initial arrest in late 2024 and will be transferred to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to begin serving his term.
