Brownsville Man Flees Police, Resists Arrest at Home Amidst Domestic Disturbance
On Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at approximately 15:50hrs, Cameron County Sheriff Deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 6600 block of Dockberry, Brownsville, Texas. The disturbance involved 24-year-old Demetrio Ezequiel Valdez, who was wanted by Cameron County’s 445th District Court for a Motion to Revoke warrant.
Upon arrival, Sheriff Deputies located Valdez in an empty lot near the reported disturbance. Despite attempts to establish contact, Valdez evaded the deputies by running into the residence. Disregarding orders to stop, he entered the home.
Inside the residence, Sheriff Deputies found Valdez’s family members attempting to restrain him. Despite resistance, deputies attempted to take Valdez into custody. He pulled away and concealed his hands, resisting arrest. In response, deputies deployed OC (oleoresin capsicum) spray to gain compliance.
Following the use of OC spray, Sheriff Deputies successfully secured Mr. Demetrio Ezequiel Valdez. He was arrested and subsequently transported to the Carrizales Rucker Detention Center, where he awaits arraignment.
Valdez faces charges of Evading Arrest or Detention (TPC 38.04), a Class A Misdemeanor, Resisting Arrest, Search or Transportation (TPC 38.03), another Class A Misdemeanor, and Warrant: Endangering or Abandoning Child Motion to Revoke from the 445th District Court.
