Beaumont Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Ashley Street Shooting

On December 5, 2025, Beaumont Police responded to a report of a deceased person near Frint Drive and Tyrell Park at approximately 7:48 a.m. Upon arrival, officers located a Black female, later identified as 33-year-old Laquanta Edwards, deceased at the scene.

Detectives traced Ms. Edwards’s last known location to the 2400 block of Ashley Street and discovered her vehicle in the 2300 block of Ashley Street. Evidence of a crime was also located at 2454 Ashley Street, which was secured and processed by the Jefferson County Crime Lab.

Investigators identified 34-year-old Thaddeaus McCray as a suspect and obtained a murder warrant issued by Judge Collins. Beaumont Police Special Assignment Unit and SWAT located McCray on Euclid Street, where he surrendered without incident and was transported to the Beaumont Police Department for questioning.
