Beaumont Man Stabs Girlfriend to Death, Attempts to Kill Ex-Girlfriend
On Monday, June 24, 2024, at 11:15 AM, Beaumont Police responded to a call at 1650 E. Lucas to assist Fire & EMS with a deceased person. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the victim had suffered multiple stab wounds, indicating a homicide. Detectives and the Jefferson County Crime Lab initiated an investigation at the scene.
At 11:45 AM, police were dispatched to the area of Landis and Eveningview regarding a disturbance. The caller reported that the suspect had killed someone on E. Lucas and was attempting to kill her.
The investigation revealed that the suspect, 41-year-old Howard Celestine, had a confrontation with his girlfriend, 61-year-old Lizzie Odom. During the altercation, Celestine fatally stabbed Odom. He then drove her car to his ex-girlfriend’s house and attempted to kill her by ramming the vehicle into the house and trying to stab her. Celestine fled on foot but was apprehended by police in the 600 block of Eveningview.
Celestine was transported to Beaumont Police Department for questioning before being booked into Jefferson County Jail on charges of murder.
