Beaumont Man in Custody for Eastex Road Rage Shooting

Asa Jones, 26, of Beaumont, has been taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault in connection with a road rage shooting that injured a man on the Eastex Freeway last Thursday, June 12, 2025.

Beaumont Police responded to the 8000 block of Eastex Freeway at 4:04 p.m. on June 12, where they found a man who had sustained a gunshot wound to the face. The preliminary investigation indicated the shooting stemmed from a road rage incident involving another vehicle. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Detectives initially identified Jones as a person of interest in the case. On Monday, June 16, detectives obtained an aggravated assault warrant for Jones, and he subsequently turned himself in to the Beaumont Police Department on Tuesday, June 17th.
