Baytown Police Investigating Death of Man Following Family Disturbance

Baytown Police are investigating the death of a 46-year-old man who died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a family disturbance on October 12, 2025.
Around 8:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving a firearm in the 9900 block of Bayou Woods Drive. The suspect had left the scene before officers arrived but was later found in a parking lot in the 7000 block of N. SH 146.
When officers attempted to stop him, the man refused to comply and struck a patrol vehicle. Moments later, he sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Officers immediately provided medical aid until EMS arrived. The man was transported by Life Flight but later died.
Police confirmed after reviewing available information and video footage that no officer discharged their weapon, and no one else was injured.
“I fully support our officers and commend the professionalism, composure, and care they displayed throughout this very difficult situation,” said Chief John Stringer.
Officials extended condolences to the man’s family and reminded the public of available mental health support. Anyone struggling or in crisis can contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline for help.
The investigation remains ongoing.
