Auto Shop Owner Arrested After $187K Fraud Investigation in Galveston County

A months-long investigation into complaints against a Galveston County auto repair business has led to the arrest of its owner on a felony theft charge, according to authorities.
On December 31, 2025, the Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force, working alongside the Galveston County Constable’s Office Precinct 1, arrested 43-year-old Joshua Marshall of Seabrook. Marshall is charged with Theft of Property valued between $150,000 and $300,000.
The investigation began in September 2025 after multiple customers reported paying large sums of money to OnPoint Auto Customs LLC in Bacliff, Texas, for vehicle services that were never completed. As complaints mounted, investigators conducted a repair shop inspection authorized under the Texas Occupations Code, allowing them to gather records related to ownership and customer transactions.
Detectives ultimately identified 16 victims, with the total estimated value of stolen property reaching approximately $187,937.35. The Galveston County District Attorney’s Office approved the felony charge against Marshall, who investigators say operated and owned the business.
Bond was set at $375,874.70, which is twice the estimated value of the stolen property. The arrest warrant was signed by 10th District Court Judge Rebecca Millo, and Marshall was taken into custody at his Seabrook residence without incident.
Authorities say the investigation remains active and additional victims may come forward. Anyone with information related to this case, or who believes they may have been a victim, is encouraged to contact the Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force at 409-766-4500.
