Austin Police Seek Public Help After Rutland Market Armed Robbery

The Austin Police Department (APD) Robbery Unit is asking for public assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an aggravated robbery at the Rutland Market, located at 900 Rutland Drive, on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, around 10:20 p.m.

According to investigators, the suspect entered the store, requested cigarettes, and then brandished a black handgun, demanding money from the register.

The suspect is described as:

  • A white male, approximately 45-50 years old
  • Height between 5’8” and 5’10”
  • Thin build, possibly transient
  • Last seen wearing a black balaclava mask, black hoodie, black gloves, and black pants

APD is urging anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to contact the Robbery Unit at 512-974-5092. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
