Austin Police Seek Public Help After Aggravated Assault on East 5th Street on July 27th

The Austin Police Department’s Aggravated Assault Unit is asking for the public’s assistance following an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon that took place on Sunday, July 27, 2025, around 2:15 a.m. at the intersection of East 5th Street and Red River Street.

Officials report a disturbance involving a group of people and occupants of a silver sedan. During the incident, one occupant of the silver sedan discharged a firearm. The vehicle was last seen traveling southbound on Red River Street.

The driver is described as a Hispanic female, while the passenger is a Hispanic male with long hair, armed with a handgun. Several pedestrians involved in the disturbance fled the scene after the shooting.
