Austin Police Seek Public Assistance in Unsolved Murder of 19-year-old in Northeast Austin

After a six-month-long investigation, the Austin Police Department (APD) Homicide Unit is appealing to the public once again for information that could help solve the murder of 19-year-old Davante Reece.

The incident dates back to Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at approximately 11:29 p.m. Multiple concerned citizens had alerted the APD to the sound of gunshots in the vicinity of Manor Road and Rogge Lane. Responding officers arrived at the scene but could not locate any victims at that time. Shortly thereafter, a distressing call was placed to 911 by a woman who reported that her boyfriend, Davante Reece, had been shot.

Officers rushed to Breeze Way, just a few blocks from where the gunshots were reported. There, they discovered the lifeless body of 19-year-old Davante Tyrell Reece of Conroe, bearing apparent gunshot wounds. Reece was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation conducted by APD suggests that the fatal shooting occurred in the 5700 block of Manor Road. Despite their relentless efforts, no arrests have been made in connection with this case, and the investigation is ongoing.
