Austin Police Arrest Four in Separate Park Vehicle Burglary Incidents

AUSTIN, Texas – Austin Police have arrested four suspects in two separate vehicle burglary cases occurring at local parks in July and August.
July 16 Arrests
On Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at approximately 3:20 p.m., APD officers responded to Zilker Metropolitan Park after receiving reports of individuals breaking into vehicles. Callers stated that several cars had been burglarized and that the suspects fled in a silver Hyundai.
Responding officers located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop, recovering stolen property belonging to one of the victims. Taleja Jenkins, 26, and Deshauna Penson, 28, were arrested for burglary of a vehicle and related offenses.
August 7 Arrests
On Thursday, August 7, 2025, around 1:30 p.m., APD’s North Metro Tactical Response Unit was conducting a proactive operation at Mayfield Park and Nature Preserve and Covert Park at Mount Bonnell. Officers observed two men in a vehicle acting suspiciously, parking next to several cars and looking inside them.
The suspects moved their vehicle several times within the lot before leaving the park. Officers followed and witnessed reckless driving, including unsafe passing, weaving through traffic, and driving in the opposite lane. A traffic stop was conducted, and the occupants were identified as Randy Council, 34, and Trayvon Swain, 26.
Council was arrested for reckless driving and attempted burglary of a motor vehicle. Swain was arrested for attempted burglary of a motor vehicle.
Police continue to urge park visitors to lock their vehicles, hide valuables, park in well-lit areas, use anti-theft devices, and remain alert to their surroundings.
