Austin Murder Suspect Arrested in Spring, Texas
Killer: Kimberly Sotelo

AUSTIN, TX – The Austin Police Department announced that a woman wanted in connection with a downtown homicide has been taken into custody.

On December 1, 2025, members of the Gulf Coast Fugitive Task Force arrested 34-year-old Kimberly Sotelo of Bastrop, Texas, in Spring. The arrest was made without incident. Sotelo was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a murder charge, where she remains while awaiting extradition to Travis County.

The case stems from a shooting on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at about 8:32 a.m. Officers responded to reports of gunfire near East 5th Street and Trinity Street in downtown Austin. When police and Austin-Travis County EMS arrived, they found 52-year-old Gared Raeshaun Goff lying on the ground. He was pronounced dead at 8:50 a.m. It was Austin’s 48th homicide of the year.

Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel processed the area and interviewed witnesses. The investigation determined that Goff had been shot by a suspect who fled immediately afterward. Follow-up work by detectives later identified Sotelo as the suspect, prompting an extended search.
