Austin Man Arrested for Fatal Shooting Under Parmer Lane Bridge
On Monday, November 25, 2024, at approximately 1:40 p.m., Austin Police Department officers responded to a shooting at 1212 W Parmer Lane in North Austin. The caller, 39-year-old Steven Rippley, stated he had shot a man under the bridge. Upon arrival, officers located the deceased male, who had suffered gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at 1:59 p.m.
Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The investigation revealed that Rippley and the victim had a history of ongoing disputes. Rippley claimed the victim had threatened him with a rock, prompting him to shoot the victim multiple times.
Rippley was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and booked into the Travis County Jail.
