Austin Detectives Search for a Man in Connection to a Hit and Run Crash

On Thursday, June 1, 2023, at around 12:25 p.m., local law enforcement officers from the Austin Police Department (APD) rushed to the scene of a collision near the intersection of East William Cannon Drive and Janes Ranch Road.

Initial findings from the preliminary investigation indicate that the driver of a dark-colored Chevrolet Equinox veered into oncoming traffic, resulting in a collision with another vehicle. Following the crash, the unidentified male driver of the Chevy Equinox swiftly fled the scene without offering assistance or dialing 9-1-1. One of the passengers in the other vehicle involved was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention, with injuries reported as non-life-threatening.

Authorities are currently searching for the suspect, described as follows:

  • Hispanic male
  • Estimated to be between 20 and 30 years old
  • Medium build
  • Sports an extended goatee beard
  • At the time of the incident, he was observed wearing sunglasses, a black baseball cap, a black t-shirt, black shorts, and black sneakers.
