Arrest Made in March Murder of Conroe Man

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit has arrested Zachary Carroll Savant, 36, in connection with the murder of Don Dixon Jr., 37. Savant was formally charged with murder on July 31, 2025, and is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail.

The investigation began on Saturday, March 29, 2025, when deputies responded to a welfare concern in the 15000 block of Hayden Road in Conroe. Upon arrival, they discovered a deceased male, later identified as Don Dixon Jr., inside a residence. An autopsy determined the manner of death was a homicide.

Through the course of the investigation, Savant was identified as a suspect, leading to the murder charge.
