Arrest Made in Connection to Fatal Shooting Incident in Lubbock County

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, the Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit has made an arrest related to a deadly shooting that occurred in the 9900 block of North Boston.

18-year-old Ahdias Stewart of Anton, TX, was arrested on Wednesday, October 10, 2023, and charged with murder in connection to the incident. The shooting, which took place in the early hours of October 7th, left 56-year-old Dicky Ruiz dead and another individual, 46-year-old Andrew Mojica, injured.

Lubbock County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of shots fired at approximately 1:32 a.m. Upon arrival, they found two males with gunshot wounds. Dicky Ruiz was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Andrew Mojica, the second victim, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

The Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit took charge of the investigation into this incident. Following their inquiry, a murder warrant for Stewart was issued on October 10, 2023. He was apprehended with the assistance of the Texas Anti-Gang Unit in the 7100 Block W FM 1264 around 7:33 p.m. the same day.

The investigation into this unfortunate event is currently ongoing, and authorities continue their efforts to gather more information surrounding the case.
