A man was shot and killed Tuesday night at an Exxon gas station after allegedly attempting to rob another man, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).
On February 11, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., HCSO Homicide Detectives responded to a shooting at 25950 Northwest Freeway in Cypress. Deputies arrived to find one man dead and the shooter still at the scene. The shooter, who had called 911 to report the incident, cooperated with authorities. EMS attempted to aid the wounded man, but he was pronounced dead on scene.
According to investigators, surveillance footage captured the entire altercation. The shooter had just exited his vehicle when he was aggressively approached by the deceased man. The video showed the shooter repeatedly backing away throughout the gas station parking lot before the suspect took his wallet. The shooter then drew his handgun and pointed it at the suspect, who continued advancing. The shooter then fired, striking the suspect before calling 911 and securing his weapon in his vehicle.
HCSO confirmed that an autopsy will be conducted within 24 hours to determine the exact cause and manner of death. The case remains under investigation and will be referred to a grand jury for review.
