Armed Man Fatally Shot by Montgomery County Deputy in Family Violence Incident
On May 24, 2024, at approximately 8:20 PM, deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to a family violence report involving an individual armed with a knife. Upon arrival, deputies encountered Kedrayn Blueford, 21, who refused commands to drop the knife and surrender.
Blueford, known to have a history of mental health issues, was reportedly experiencing a manic episode, prompting his family to call for assistance. Despite attempts to de-escalate the situation, Blueford advanced towards the deputies with the knife. Fearing for their safety, one deputy discharged his weapon, striking Blueford. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. No deputies were injured.
The incident is under investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Homicide and Violent Crimes Unit, Crime Scene Investigators, the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, and the Texas Rangers.
Sheriff Rand Henderson stated, “Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the individual involved in tonight’s tragic incident. We are profoundly saddened by this loss and understand the immense grief and pain the family is experiencing. Our thoughts are also with our deputies, who are deeply affected by this unfortunate event.”
