Angleton Pastor Arrested on Second-Degree Sexual Assault Charge
ANGLETON, Texas – Angleton Police arrested 61-year-old Alejandro “Alex” Montealegre on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, following an investigation into a sexual assault alleged to have occurred last year. Montealegre, a resident of Angleton, is charged with Sexual Assault, a second-degree felony under Texas law. He is currently being held in the Brazoria County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
The investigation was initiated on January 13, 2026, after authorities received a report concerning an incident from July 2025. Following a two-month process involving victim interviews and evidence collection, detectives developed sufficient probable cause to secure an arrest warrant.
Community and Church Affiliations
Montealegre is a well-known figure in the local religious community, serving as the former pastor of La Vida Church (also known as Tejano LIFE Church), located in the 3100 block of North Valderas Street in Angleton. The police department said he was a “former” pastor, but did not specify when he stopped working as a pastor. According to some accounts from church attendees, both pastors were removed in 2025.
