Alvin Man Arrested in Fatal Shooting of 18-Year-Old After Vehicle Trade Dispute

ALVIN, Texas — An Alvin man has been arrested and charged with murder following a shooting that left an 18-year-old dead earlier this month, police said.
Officers with the Alvin Police Department responded around 10:29 p.m. on April 2 after receiving a 911 call from a driver who reported his friend had been shot while they were traveling along State Highway 35.
Police located the vehicle in the 3100 block of S.H. 35 and found the victim in the back seat suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The victim was later identified as Emad Siddiqui, 18, of Sugar Land.
Through the investigation, detectives determined the shooting occurred at a convenience store about a mile south of where the vehicle was located. Authorities say the incident stemmed from a dispute related to a previously arranged vehicle trade between the victim and the suspect.
Investigators identified 23-year-old Eric Alexander Olvera of Alvin as the suspect and launched a search for him.
On Monday night, April 6, Olvera was located and taken into custody without incident. He is currently being held without bond on a charge of murder.
