El Paso Officer Fires on Suspect During Traffic Hazard Intervention
Angel Wolfgang Trevizo

On Monday, February 3, 2025, a six-year veteran of the El Paso Police Department was investigating a traffic hazard when he observed a separate incident at an intersection. During that incident, Angel Wolfgang Trevizo, a 33-year-old El Paso resident, exited his vehicle and confronted a driver who was stopped at the intersection. The officer intervened to ensure the safety of the individual being confronted.

Trevizo then re-entered his vehicle, disobeyed the officer’s orders, and drove away, nearly striking the officer. In response, the officer discharged his weapon, striking Trevizo. Officers on scene provided immediate medical treatment, and Trevizo was later treated at a local hospital.

Separate investigations were conducted by The Texas Rangers and the El Paso Police Department Shooting Review Team. A warrant was issued by Judge Myers for Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant with a bond set at $100,000. After his release from the hospital, Trevizo was booked on the warrant.
