Masked Machete-Wielding Man Arrested for Robbery in Beaumont

On Sunday, February 16, at 10 a.m., a concerned citizen reported a masked man walking with a large machete near 9th Street and Blanchette in Beaumont. Before officers arrived, the man disappeared.
Minutes later, dispatch received a report of a robbery at a game room located at 1165 S. 11th Street. The suspect, described as wearing a gray hoodie and a mask, was armed with a machete during the incident.
The same citizen who initially reported the suspect spotted him again on Blanchette and alerted authorities. Officers responded and detained 63-year-old Mitchell Sylvester of Beaumont. Evidence from the robbery was recovered, and Sylvester was found in possession of a large amount of cash.
After speaking with detectives, Sylvester was arrested for Aggravated Robbery and transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
