Fatal Crash on South Sam Houston Parkway East Involves High-Speed Collision

Houston police investigators have concluded their search for a vehicle initially believed to be involved in a fatal crash at 11400 South Sam Houston Parkway East (Beltway 8) service road on January 31, 2025, at approximately 7:10 p.m.

The victim in the crash has been identified as Francisco Medillin, 44.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Sudduth and Officers A. Gomez and R. Guzman reported that officers initially responded to a scene where multiple vehicles were stopped at a red light at the intersection with Sabo Road when an 18-wheeler crashed into several vehicles.

However, further investigation and surveillance video revealed that a black Lexus RX350, traveling at a high rate of speed, crashed into the rear of a silver Chevrolet Cavalier. The force of the impact caused the Chevrolet to flip and land on the sidewalk.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Medillin, the driver of the Cavalier, deceased. A 9-year-old male juvenile passenger in the Cavalier was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The female driver of the Lexus was also transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The crash caused minor damage to other vehicles, but no other individuals were seriously injured.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
