Surveillance footage from a North Oak Cliff apartment complex shows a deadly shooting following an argument and fight between two men on January 30, 2025.
Dallas police responded to a shooting call around 11 p.m. at an apartment complex located in the 400 block of S. Beckley Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found the victim inside an apartment with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
The suspected shooter, identified as 32-year-old Devin Paxton, was captured on surveillance video in a fight with the victim in the hallway. The footage shows Paxton putting the victim in a headlock and punching him several times before drawing a handgun and shooting him multiple times. The victim retreated into the apartment, but Paxton followed and shot him again. Paxton then fled on foot.
Two witnesses, who were inside the apartment during the incident, told police that the group had been hanging out when an argument broke out between Paxton and the victim. After the victim punched Paxton, the fight moved into the hallway, where the shooting occurred.
Paxton turned himself in to police on February 5. He was booked into the Dallas County Jail and charged with murder.
