Sergeant Stacey Baumgartner Memorial Highway Dedicated in Honor of Fallen Patton Village Officer

A section of Texas 242 has been officially dedicated as the “Sergeant Stacey Baumgartner Memorial Highway” in honor of the fallen Patton Village Police Sergeant who lost his life in the line of duty nearly nine years ago.
On January 29, 2025, Sheriff Wesley Doolittle, Commissioner Gray, and multiple law enforcement agencies gathered for the dedication ceremony to honor Sgt. Baumgartner’s sacrifice.
Sgt. Baumgartner died on June 19, 2016, after a pursuit ended in a fatal crash at FM 1485 and TX 242. During the incident, the fleeing suspect caused a collision between Baumgartner’s patrol car and a vehicle carrying members of the Hilario family.
The newly named stretch of TX 242 from U.S. Highway 59 to FM 1485 now serves as a lasting tribute to Sgt. Baumgartner’s service and dedication to the Patton Village community.
