Stolen Truck Pursuit Ends on Runways of Midland International Airport

A 29-year-old man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a police pursuit ended on the runways of Midland International Air & Space Port.

At 12:45 p.m., Midland Police responded to a vehicle theft near Main Street and Missouri Avenue. 29-year-old Randy Lee Gutierrez allegedly stole a white 2020 Ford pickup truck from a parking lot before crashing at Big Spring and Missouri, then fleeing the scene.

The vehicle’s owner provided GPS tracking data to law enforcement, allowing Midland County Sheriff’s deputies to locate the truck. A pursuit ensued, leading into Midland city limits before Gutierrez crashed through the airport perimeter fence.

Midland Police Airport Units pursued the truck onto the runways. After multiple attempts to disable the vehicle, Gutierrez fled on foot but was apprehended by a K-9.

Gutierrez faces charges including Evading in a Motor Vehicle, Evading Arrest, Duty on Striking a Fixture, and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
