San Antonio FC Acquires Attacker on Loan From Portland Timbers
San Antonio FC has acquired attacker Nathan Fogaça on loan from the Portland Timbers, pending league and federation approval, the team announced today. Per team policy, terms of the loan were not disclosed.
“As a staff, we are thrilled to welcome Nathan back to the team and are thankful to Portland for accommodating this loan,” said SAFC head coach Alen Marcina. “He is an exceptional talent and on-field difference-maker. Nathan understands and is committed to our team identity and is a tremendous acquisition in our pursuit to defend our Championship Title.”
With SAFC in 2021, Fogaça matched the club’s single-season goal record with 11 scores in the regular season. Fogaça scored twice in the postseason as well, as San Antonio advanced to the Western Conference Final for the first time in club history.
Since heading to Portland after the 2021 season, Fogaça has appeared in 27 MLS matches, starting nine. Fogaça tallied a brace in his MLS debut on May 14, 2022, and has scored once and assisted twice in 2023.
Fogaça made his professional debut at the age of 18 with Brazilian side Coritiba in 2018. The native of Palmeira, Brazil appeared in 40 matches over three seasons with Coritiba, including 12 in Campeonato Brasileiro Série A after the team was promoted in 2020.
