Son Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Mother in South Side

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman at 3429 St. Benedict Street at approximately 2:55 p.m. on Saturday, January 18. The suspect, 26-year-old Zacchaeus Parker, is charged with murder in the 351st State District Court. The victim has been identified as 49-year-old Lenisa Washington.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. Ponder and Detective J. Meister reported that officers responded to a shooting call at the residence and found the victim inside with multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced Washington deceased at the scene.

Family members told officers that Parker, the victim’s son, shot her. Officers located Parker nearby and detained him. He was found in possession of a firearm.

After interviewing witnesses and the suspect, detectives consulted with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, leading to the murder charge against Parker for his role in the incident.
