Sweetwater Police Crack Down on Drug Activity Near Schools with Two Arrests
The Sweetwater Police Department recently conducted two separate search warrant operations as part of ongoing narcotics investigations, both executed at residences located within one thousand feet of Sweetwater ISD schools. This initiative highlights the department’s commitment to ensuring a safe environment for students and residents.
The search warrants resulted in the seizure of approximately 44 grams of methamphetamine, 41 grams of cocaine, and five ounces of marijuana. Officers also confiscated various paraphernalia associated with the sale and distribution of illegal narcotics.
Two individuals were arrested during these operations. Esperanza Amaya faces charges of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance (PG 1) greater than 4 grams but less than 200 grams, along with Possession of Marijuana greater than 4 but less than 5 pounds. Jacob Ian Strain is charged with two counts of Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance (PG 1) greater than 4 grams but less than 200 grams, Possession of Methamphetamine, and Possession of Cocaine. Both suspects are currently booked at the Nolan County Jail.
Chief Bryan Sheridan emphasized the importance of these actions, stating, “These actions demonstrate our continued commitment to safeguarding our schools and neighborhoods. The Sweetwater Police Department remains vigilant in our efforts to remove dangerous substances from our streets, especially in areas close to our educational institutions.”
